2-22-19 Painting

I have given up hope on my portrait, so I went back to my rhino painting I had started. The reason why is because we have to have meaning in our piece that we present and I have a big reason for creating this piece.

The message in this piece is very heartbreaking. I wanted to make a piece that would touch the hearts of everyone. The history of war dogs is horrific. Once finished in war, they are left to die at the camp. They are used to set off bombs that are seen in the field and they are also shot at. Many aren't able to come back home due to no room on the helicopter. This piece was based off a true story and a movie called Megan Leavey. With her struggles of being able to take her dog home due to his label that he was "dangerous," she was unable to take the dog home with her and was forced to leave him behind. This message has such a huge impact to dog owners. The pain that people feel when losing a animals they love.

Quarter 1 Value Project My master artist is Michelangelo. I used his "Head of a Young Man" as an I idea on how to shade the human features. The way he uses soft shading, makes the portraits look more lifelike and realistic. The way he draws the person from the side also helped me to understand the shading area of the face. My current artist is Michelle Cox. I used her various portraits of present day people to try can help me understand the human features and how they can be made to look realistic. Her technic of dark shading makes the picture pop on top of a light colored background. Describing:  My project is of a soccer player named Harry Kane. The object next to him is England. Piece 4

This is was a revision. I didn't like my original idea. I looked back at the movie I based it on, and I had realized that the first piece was nothing like the movie. I did more research and I was able to create a better piece. With my second piece, I made the shark actually look like he is in the water. I was able to go out and get research of water and also how sharks swim in the water.In the first piece, I knew that sharks this big, aren't seen in a tank, so I made sure it was actually realistic. I used a lot o references to make sure I had the right details and significant features you see on a shark. With the new piece, I felt the message came across better. Adding the blood made this piece so much better. With it being very gory, the message is very prominent. By using acrylic paint, the detail in the shark has shown through. The texture was good for the water as well.
